Acquisition of Martec expands Amphenol's Hermetics capabilities

Amphenol Ltd is proud to announce the acquisition of Martec Ltd, which will expand Amphenol's presence in the field of Hermetic interconnect products.

Specialising in the design and manufacture of Hermetic connectors and headers, Martec was established in 1987 by Martin Harnett. Martin previously worked at Amphenol Ltd for 19 years as a Hermetic product specialist. As the Amphenol Military and Aerospace Operations (AMAO) Design and Development centre for Hermetics, Martec will lead Amphenol’s hermetic product development from its existing 11,000 sq ft facility in the UK. In addition to expanding its own UK design and manufacturing capability, Martec will also utilise Amphenol’s new low cost manufacturing centre in India. Martec’s manufacturing capabilities include plating, machining, cabling and encapsulation in conjunction with five conveyor and static ovens.

Holding ISO 9001, AS9100 and IECQ-CECC registration, the acquisition of Martec Ltd will only further bolster Amphenol Military Aerospace Operations’ existing Hermetics capabilities bringing new expertise in exotic materials and harsh environment or high pressure applications in the Aerospace, Defence and Industrial markets. Martec Ltd also holds design capability in contactless (no pin contact) interconnect for both data and power, and have developed products currently employed in programmes including JSF, NH90 Helicoptor, A380 and Boeing’s 787, as well as a broad range of industrial and oil and gas applications.

It is with great pleasure and open arms that we welcome Dan Harnett, the General Manager, and the exceptional team at Martec to join our family here at Amphenol Ltd. We look forward to what this new partnership will bring to the business and are excited for the bright future we see ahead of us.
